An Unexpected Adventure
Hi everyone.
Just wanted to put in a brief introduction to the pages that follow. The trip to Vegas fell
together at the last minute when an opportunity to volunteer as part of the tournament staff
arose. So last minute arrangements were made and I done flew the coop as us Hoosiers would say.
What follows is my account of watching some of the finest young men that I have ever had the good
fortune of knowing put it all on the line.
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong
man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit
belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust
and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and
again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does
actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great
devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the
end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least

What you will find in here is my review of the week and events at the Nationals. It is not all encompassing as
I was working approximately 50% of the time, it is not find an emporium of facts about the matches or play by
plays - their are others that will provide that. It is simply a view of the week through an observer who got
to witness the results of minutes, days, weeks, months and years of dedication to a sport that we all love.
