Gallery 01 - Setup & Control Desk
Facility Setup and the folks
that make our tournament what it is.
Maybe not the most exciting subject matters, but without all the
volunteers who help us out .... there is no SJVO!!
Our sincerest thanks to all of them.
This section looks at those that came as a family or group and
also is about capturing the smiles, fun and sportsmanship of the
tourney. I would like to thank the Lindenwood team for coming
and enjoyed the spirit they brought along!!
Gallery 03 - The Pennsylvania Posse
Riding into town to team up with ringleader Coach
Seemiller the
Pennsylvania Posse of Rick, Dan, Randy & Dan Jr. Seemiller
along
with Chip Coulter & Dave Sakai combined with the SBTTC
Juniors
& Players to rack up 18 placements against Lindenwood's 15.
We
found the secret to keeping the tally in our favor - the aged
events!!
The power brought to bear by Lindenwood was offset by 4 hits
in the
40&O event. So next year we may have to have a 45&O, 55&O
...
Just joking - loved the overall spirit of the games and hope that we see it
in next years tourney!!
Gallery 04 - And their Indiana Deputies
Rounding out the Posse was a group of youngsters from South Bend and
the surrounding area. In this gallery SBTTC Juniors Joe
Cochran (2403),
Tim Van Gerwen (2356), Andre Khailo (1951), Zach Steele
(1672) and
David Trykall (1853) are featured.
When Coach announced that the Lindenwood Team was coming in
for
the tournament everybody was excited. It meant
that the level of
competition was going to be high and learning
experiences were just
around the corner.
Gallery 05 - The future, some veterans and members
The future looks bright with Juniors such as Brian, Andrew, Alex,
Isaac, Brittany & Joshua. It is also great to see
veterans of our
program, Nate & Gordon, coming back to play at the SJVO!!
Gallery 06 - Lindenwood University TT Team
CLASS - PURE CLASS!! That is my personal assessment of both
the team lead by Co-Head Coaches Randy & Kelly Kendle and all
the players that visited us for the 46th Annual R-P SJVO.
I saw alot
of smiles and camaraderie throughout the tourney, But
make no
mistake, when it was time to compete ...compete they
did!!
And Smart Too!! The open turned out to be a rematch
of the U2500
finals played on Saturday between SBTTC Coach Dan Seemiller (2475)
and Jose Barbosa (2470) from Lindenwood. Coach won that
one.
Jose went to school on that loss and on Sunday fought from
behind to
win in the 7th by a score of 11-6. Jose wins this one.
Interesting note - Both players had identical records of 9-1 for the tourney.
And harking back to the days of a Ronald Reagan debate
against Walter
Mondale. When asked if his age was a factor in his bid for the presidency.
Ron looked at the camera, smiled and said that he would not
for political gain
exploit his opponents youth
and inexperience. That encompasses a great spirit, a spirit demonstrated
in the finals on May 2nd at the R-P SJVO. Neither player asked for nor was
granted any quarter. Every
point was fought hard for and earned. On that day, in that match, Jose
managed to score 5 more points
than coach. And with PURE CLASS from both parties - high fives were
exchanged. Thanks to both!!
Gallery 08 - Fires being Kindled and Lit
Anyone who knows anything about SBTTC and Coach Seemiller
know that our world revolves around the juniors program.
So
the caliber of play from the youth at this years tourney was
so high,
and so exciting, words won't cut it, so let the action speak for itself.
The future certainly does look exciting!!
This final section is about the folks that make the sport what it is. Our
mission
has always been for the R-P
SJVO to be a players tournament. Time scheduled
since it's rebirth in 1993, unparalleled event on time
starts, barriered courts
providing roomy play area on great tables and good lighting.
Our goal then is for you, the player to show up and have a good time!!
So the balance of these pictures are not sorted in any order,
but are posted
in date / time stamp as they came off the camera. By
the looks of it we succeeded.
Does that mean every picture contains a smile?
Far from it!!.
Because as players and competitors our game faces, grimaces,
grunts and
groans show our happiness. Congratulating an opponent on a well played
point
and saying "Thank You" to the person that checks you in or provides a
sandwich. Because they bring you
this tourney for the love they have of the sport and the SBTTC Juniors
Program.
B'dee,
b'dee, THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!
